Refrigerator/Freezer Recycling Credits
When an old inefficient refrigerator is moved to a garage or basement, it can take twice as much enegy to keep food cold and can cost over $100 a year to operate. To encourage recycling of old units, EEA members qualify for a substantial refrigerator/freezer recycling credit to properly dispose of their old units. Don't move that old refrigerator to the garage, recycle it to safe energy and money!
For a one week period each year, scheduled in April to celebrate Earth Week, EEA sponsors the Refrigerator Recycling Event. Members are required to obtain a certificate that will be submitted to the recycling center when the unit is delivered for recycling. Following the event, the certified recycling centers will turn in proof of receipt to EEA and each participating member will receive a $60 credit on their electric bill. Please allow up to two billing cycles to receive a credit following this event.
