The deadline for the 2025 Empire Electric Association director election has passed. There are three qualified candidates for District 1 and one for District 2. Jeff Busic, S. J. Duncan, and Douglas Sparks are the qualified candidates for District 1. Incumbent Robert A. Barry is the only candidate for District 2. Each candidate’s bio can be viewed below or on EEA’s Annual Meeting page.
Ballots for the election will be mailed out mid-May and all active EEA members are eligible to vote in the election. Ballots must be returned to Survey and Ballot Systems, EEA’s contractor for conducting the election voting, no later than June 13, 2025. Members can also drop off ballots at EEA’s office in Cortez at 801 N Broadway, or at the annual meeting to be held on Thursday June 19.
The annual meeting will be held at EEA’s Engineering and Operations Center at 23999 Road L.4 in Cortez. Registration for the annual meeting begins at 4:30 PM. Voting will end and the meeting will begin at 5:30 PM. We encourage you to attend the annual meeting to hear the latest news about your electric cooperative. The District 1 election results will be announced at the end of the meeting. EEA will also be drawing for door prizes including bill credits and a 65” Vizio flat screen television courtesy of our wholesale power supplier Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association.
