Scams

Be aware of growing phone scams that target utility customers, especially business owners. Phone scammers pose as your utility provider when they call and insist you are delinquent on your bill. They threaten to turn off your power and look legit as they rig the caller ID to reflect EEA's phone number. Then they request that you call them back with a prepaid debit card number.

Don't believe it. DO NOT pay over the phone if immediate payment is demanded to avoid a disconnection.  Here's what to do if the call seems suspicious.

Hang up.

Call Empire Electric at (970) 565-4444 or (800) 709-3726.

Call the police.
